Is the Samsung HW Q800B Better Than The Samsung HW Q600B?

The Samsung HW-Q800B offers a superior audio experience compared to the Q600B. It’s a 5.1.2 setup with two more additional channels for a better surround sound experience. It outputs a more detailed soundstage and a deeper low-bass rumble. The Q800B supports extra features such as room correction, allowing its audio reproduction to be optimized for your space’s acoustic characteristics.

The Samsung Q600B and Q800B are sleek and stylish soundbars that look great in any room. However, the Samsung q800b has a more refined grill mesh that looks slightly better.

The Q600B is a 2.1-channel soundbar with a wireless subwoofer, while the Q800B is a 3.1.2-channel soundbar with two wireless rear speakers and a subwoofer.

Both soundbars feature a brushed aluminum design and are wall-mountable, so you can easily integrate them into your home theater setup.

Build Quality & Dimensions

The HW-Q600B and HW-Q800B soundbars both have a polygonal design with straight shapes and a metallic finish.

The Q600B has a black finish called ‘Metal Black’, while the Q800B is lighter with a more gray tone called ‘Titan’. The Q800B is slightly larger than the Q600B, measuring 1110 x 60 x 120mm, compared to 1030 x 57 x 105mm for the Q600B. The Q800B’s subwoofer is also significantly larger, featuring an 8-inch woofer instead of a 6.5-inch woofer.

In terms of connectivity, both models include two HDMI ports, one of which is eARC, so you can connect it to your TV.  This is particularly useful if you have a game console, as the Q800B can create a more immersive sound experience with Dolby Atmos-compatible games. However, the q600b has an ARC which the q800b doesn’t have.

They also feature an optical input and a USB port. Connecting via HDMI is the best way to take advantage of the Q-Symphony feature, which allows you to activate all TV speakers.

Both the Q600B and Q800B have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to stream music from your smartphone or tablet easily.

Audio Performance

The main difference between these soundbars is the sound quality.

The Q600B is equipped with two 10-watt speakers and a 20-watt subwoofer, while the Q800B has four 10-watt speakers and a 30-watt subwoofer. The Q800B also has the added advantage of two rear speakers that give the soundbar an extra dimension, allowing it to create a more immersive experience. Both soundbars offer real Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies, but the Q800B is better able to take advantage of the technology due to its more powerful speakers.

Tweeters & Sound Quality

The HW-Q800B has been upgraded from the 2021 HW-Q800A model and features two wide-range tweeters, providing superior audio coverage.

It also has two additional side speakers to create a more immersive sound, forming a 5.1.2 channel system. In addition, the SpaceFit Sound function has been upgraded to a 2nd generation that can analyze the sound bouncing around the room via its built-in microphone. The Q600B also features a 3.1.2 channel system and has a total of 9 speakers with its own amplifier. Both models offer a high volume capable of filling a large room with sound.

The Q600B does not have wide-range tweeters or side speakers but a center channel that focuses on dialogue clarity. It features the Acoustic Beam system, which adds tubes with 28 holes to spread the sound upwards to create an effect similar to having physical speakers.

Despite this, the Q800B still provides a more immersive experience.

Virtual Sound

The Q800B also has an added feature that the Q600B does not – “Virtual Sound.” This feature allows you to expand the soundstage by creating virtual rear speakers, even if you don’t have physical speakers. This is especially useful if you have a smaller room and don’t have the space for physical rear speakers.

The Samsung HW-Q800B is the clear winner in this comparison. It has a more advanced design, better connectivity options, and superior sound quality. The additional wide-range tweeters, side speakers, and 8-inch subwoofer all combine to create an immersive audio experience. You can purchase the optional wireless rear speaker kits if you want to set up a true home theater system. The HW-Q800B is definitely worth the extra investment if you’re looking for the best sound quality.
